WC Baseball scores 38 Runs in Doubleheader at Vernon

The Weatherford College baseball team used an offensive barrage to sweep Vernon College in a doubleheader Wednesday, 16-6 and 22-8 in Vernon.

Along with the 38 runs, WC had 38 hits over the two games.

WC opened the first game with six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Landon Gray went 5-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Zach Arambula was 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs.

In game two, the Coyotes scored in every inning but the fifth. Payton Rhodes turned in five RBI with four runs scored. Andrew Keefer was 5-for-6 with four RBI, a home run and four runs scored. Second baseman Andrew Keefer and first baseman Lachlan Mayo pulled off a triple play in the bottom of the sixth.

WC is 24-19 overall and 12-10 in conference play. Weatherford hosts Vernon Saturday at Roger Williams Ballpark in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
