WC Baseball sweeps Temple

The Weatherford College baseball team has won 10 of its last 11 games after sweeping Temple College Wednesday, 9-2 and 11-9 in Temple.

The recent winning streak has allowed WC to make up ground in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings. As of Wednesday, the Coyotes (25-19 overall, 15-7 conference) are now just three games out of first place and one game behind third place Cisco College. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Region V Tournament in Grand Prairie.

In game one, freshman J.T. Thompson hit two home runs in a 3-for-3 performance. Jake Lyons earned the win, allowing four hits, two earned runs and three walks with eight strikeouts.

In the second game, WC scored four runs in the second inning and five runs in the fourth. Landon Gray was 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Connor Emmet also hit a home run, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

The Coyotes will face Temple (24-19, 9-13) at Roger Williams Ballpark Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
