WC rodeo teams finish second in Sweetwater

The men’s and women’s rodeo teams from Weatherford College both finished second out of 16 teams at the Ranger College Rodeo in Sweetwater this weekend.

Bristan Kennedy won both rounds of the barrel racing competition to pick up her second event title of the spring. Kennedy leads the Southwest Region standings.

Kasen Brennise won the tie down roping title after placing third in the opening round and first in the short go. Chantz Webster and Tate Thomas won second and fourth place respectively and are now tied for third in the regional standings.

Team ropers Kade Smith and Blake Bentley regained the regional lead after finishing second overall in Sweetwater. Cooper Hatley won fifth overall with Tarleton State’s Zack Krause.

Leighton Berry continued his streak toward the College National Finals Rodeo by winning the bareback riding final round and second overall. Berry sits in second place in the region.

The Coyotes next travel to Snyder for the Western Texas College Rodeo April 4-6.
