WC Softball sweeps Hill, finishes Regular Season 42-9

The Weatherford College softball team ended the regular season in Hillsboro Wednesday, sweeping Hill College 19-14 and 10-0.

The No. 8 Coyotes are 42-9 overall. WC wrapped up its conference season with a 27-5 record, having already clinched the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference title over the weekend.

The two teams combined for eight home runs in the first game alone, including round-trippers from WC’s Aspen Grimes, Kalina Sato, Macie Perrin and Courtney Campbell. Hill’s Meagan Kujawa hit two home runs. Sato was 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored.

WC shut down Hill in game two, with Kaylee Carter allowing just two hits, no earned runs and one walk with four strikeouts. WC added four more home runs from Grimes, Sato, Maddison Hightower and Perrin. Sato was 4-for-4 with four RBI.

The Coyotes will begin the postseason Friday, May 5 in the Region V-North Tournament at McKinney’s Ballfields at Craig Ranch. WC will be the top seed and will play its first game at 7:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
