WC takes Top Three Conference Awards

The No. 8 ranked Weatherford College softball team (42-9) swept the top three awards for the All-North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference team announced Wednesday.

#23 - Macie PerrinFor the second straight season, Macie Perrin won the Player of the Year Award. The sophomore from Alamogordo, N.M. has hit for average and for power this year, ranking second in the conference in batting average (.460), hits (80) and RBI (73) as well as ranking third in home runs (18) and stolen bases (21).

Morgan Rackel won Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore from Calgary, Canada was second in wins (24), fourth in ERA (1.93) and fifth in strikeouts (111) over 178 innings.

Haylee Williams was named Coach of the Year. Since taking over the program in 2013, Williams’ teams have a 195-72 overall record and two conference titles.

In addition to Perrin and Rackel, Kristeny Magallanes (infielder), Francine Garcia (designated player) and Madison Hightower (infielder) were named All-Conference. Garcia, Magallanes, Perrin, Rackel earned All-Region 5 North honors as well.

After winning the regular season conference title, the Coyotes enter the Region 5-North Tournament Friday in McKinney as the No. 1 seed.
