WC volleyball win streak hits 10
Dominating on the home court, the Coyotes defeated Temple College in three straight sets, with Abby Morris, Gabriela Maldonado and Weronika Urbanska each achieving double-digit kills.
The Weatherford College volleyball team picked up its 10th straight victory with a sweep of Temple College on Saturday at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
The No. 6 Coyotes moved to 21-5 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
Temple (11-14, 4-4) took an early lead in the first set, but WC went on a 15-6 run to win 25-16.
The second set was tied 12-12, but a 13-5 Coyote stretch put WC up for good, winning 25-17.
Weatherford had a 7-2 lead to start the third set and never relented, building a 12-point lead twice. The final in the third and deciding set was 25-17.
Three Coyotes finished with double-figure kills: Abby Morris (11), Gabriela Maldonado (11) and Weronika Urbanska (10).
Victoria Sanchez logged 19 assists, and Lorena Gomez added 18.
Kiana Souza had 12 digs, and Morris had 10.
WC has six regular season matches remaining and just three at home. They travel to Vernon College on Wednesday and return home on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. against Southwestern Christian College. Find their full schedule online at wcathletics.com.
