WC’s Maldonado wins POTW

Gabriella Maldonado won the NTJCAC Player of the Week award for her dominant performance in two volleyball sweeps, adding to a season where Coyotes Lorena Gomez, Kiana Souza and Weronika Urbanska have also earned the honor.

Weatherford College volleyball player Gabriella Maldonado won the Player of the Week Award from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference for the week of Oct. 6-12. 

The 6-foot freshman from Joshua was an unstoppable force in two sweeps to keep the No. 6 Coyotes undefeated in conference play. She had seven kills in only two sets against Hill College and had 11 kills on only 16 swings against Temple College. Maldonado had only one error in each match and averaged 3.6 kills per set hitting .571 across both matches. 

Weatherford has dominated the Player of the Week Award with Lorena Gomez (Sept. 1-7, Sept. 22-28), Kiana Souza (Sept. 8-14) and Weronika Urbanska (Sept. 15-21) being honored so far.
