Jeff Lightfoot became athletic director of Weatherford College in the spring of 2025.

Lightfoot spent 27 years as a head college baseball coach, including 23 years as the first head coach in the modern era of Weatherford College baseball.

Through the 2025 season, Lightfoot amassed a record of 912 wins, 565 losses and one tie, including four years at Eastfield College and 23 years at WC.

His Eastfield team won the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series championship in 2001 after advancing to the title game in 1998. The Harvesters were ranked first in every NJCAA Division III poll during their championship season.

In his four years as head coach at Eastfield, Lightfoot posted a 143-72 record. He is a two-time winner of each of the following awards: Texas-New Mexico Division III Coach of the Year, the Louisville Slugger Award for excellence in coaching, the Diamond Sports Company Region V Coach of the Year, and the Division III College World Series Coaching Award. In 2001, he earned National Coach of the Year honors from the NJCAA.

Moving up to the NJCAA Division I level at Weatherford College in 2003, Lightfoot’s squads posted a 769-493-1 record. The 2023 season was the best in school history, as the Coyotes won the Region V championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division I World Series, taking third place. WC won the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) championship four times (2004, 2023, 2024, 2025), made the regional finals four times and advanced to the fourth round of the regional tournament six times. Lightfoot won the NTJCAC Coach of the Year Award four times (2004, 2023, 2024, 2025).

In 23 years, more than 150 former Coyotes moved on to play baseball at universities across the nation, including more than 100 at NCAA Division I programs. 49 of Lightfoot’s former WC student-athletes have been drafted, and four have played in the major leagues so far.

In 2025, Lightfoot was voted into the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. 

A 1988 graduate of Weatherford High School, Lightfoot holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree from Texas A&M-Commerce. In 2023, he was inducted into the Weatherford High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

In addition to his coaching duties, Lightfoot served as WC’s assistant athletic director for 14 years.

Jeff and his wife, Misti, have three children: Cole, Grayson and Canon; and two grandchildren. The Lightfoot family attends Willow Park Baptist Church.
