WC baseball sweeps NCTC, clinches postseason berth

The Coyotes (34-18 overall, 20-10 conference), with one regular season doubleheader remaining, are tied with Temple College for second place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. If they finish second in the conference, they will enter regionals in a four-team bracket at Howard College in Big Spring. If they finish third in conference, they will play with a four-team group at McLennan Community College in Waco.
The regional tournament runs May 14 to May 17, with the winner from each bracket playing in a super-regional May 21-23 for a berth in the JUCO World Series.
Brett Brown finished Thursday's doubleheader with 10 RBI—five in each game. The sophomore from Godley was 5-for-9 with four runs scored and a home run.
Thursday's game one featured a 12-run third inning for the Coyotes.
Jacob Guerrero had four RBIs in the game, going 2-for-4. Austin Green and Noah Boughton each hit home runs.
Adrian Siravo allowed four hits over four and a third with three walks, two earned runs and seven strikeouts.
In game two, Weatherford put up 11 runs in the top of the fifth. WC out-hit NCTC 14-4.
Guerrero was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Hunter Rosson was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a home run.
WC finishes the regular season Saturday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against NCTC at Roger Williams Ballpark.
