WC (36-18 overall, 22-10 in conference) completed a four-game sweep of North Central Texas College with 5-1 and 14-13 wins at Roger Williams Ballpark Saturday.
Weatherford is the No. 2 seed from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and will face Odessa College, the No. 3 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Friday at 2 p.m. at Howard College in Big Spring.
Kade Bragg started game one Saturday and allowed only three hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out three. Matthew Hickey finished the Lions off with an inning and a third of perfect baseball, striking out three with no hits and no walks.
Brenden Dixon was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Game two saw much more offense with 12 hits apiece between the two teams. WC put up eight runs in the fourth inning and held on for the victory.
Peyton Benesh and Brett Brown each hit home runs for WC, and Jacob Guerrero had a four RBI game.
For the first time, this year's Region V Tournament is being hosted by the two top seeds of the WJCAC (Howard) and the NTJCAC (McLennan Community College in Waco). The top four teams from each conference are split between the two sites, with the winners of each bracket facing off in a super-regional May 21 to May 23 for a berth in the NJCAA JUCO World Series.
All Region V Tournament games will be live streamed on a pay-per-view basis on tsrnsports.com. The double-elimination tournament runs from May 14 to May 17.
