WC baseball begins conference with wins, 16-2 and 7-6
Highlighted by Walt Jones’ seven-RBI performance and a lockdown relief appearance from Rodney Pena, the sweep moves WC to an 11-8 overall record as they prepare for a home rematch this Saturday.

The Weatherford College baseball team began the conference season with two wins at Cisco College on Wednesday, 16-2 and 7-6.
The first game ended after five innings due to the run rule. WC had an 11-0 lead by the middle of the second inning.
Three Coyotes hit home runs in the first game: Joseph Sandusky, Kyzer Harrington and Walt Jones. Jones finished the game with seven RBI.
Noah Bentley earned the win, scattering five hits over five innings, allowing one earned run, walking five and striking out five.
The second game went into extra innings with WC scoring two runs in the top of the 12th. Cisco could only push across one in the bottom half, giving Weatherford the win.
Rodney Pena earned the win out of the bullpen, striking out six batters in two and two-thirds while giving up zero hits.
The Coyotes improved to 11-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They are scheduled to host Cisco at Roger Williams Ballpark on Saturday, March 7, in a noon doubleheader, weather permitting. Visit wcathletics.com for the latest in schedule updates and information.
