Coyotes sweep Cisco in conference opener
Outstanding performance from WC leads to 4-0 start in conference play
On Sunday afternoon at Roger Williams Ballpark, the Weatherford College baseball team dominated Cisco College in another two-game sweep, winning 15-4 in game one and 14-10 in game two.
The noon matchup began the second half of the series, where WC won on the run rule after five innings. Sophomore Cayden Byrd had himself a game, hitting a home run and logging six RBI.
Game two was an all-out battle for the Coyotes. Cisco looked as though they had the win, leading 10-4 at the top of the seventh. WC rallied, however, and scored 10 runs to overcome the Wranglers, taking the homestand and series sweeps.
The Coyotes (4-0 in conference play, and 13-8 overall) outscored the Wranglers 52-22 across all four games. They now claim second in the nation for home runs, hitting a total of 55 so far this season, secured in part by the No. 3 HR hitter Ty Waid.
Waid has 11 home runs in 20 games this season, three of which came from game two against Cisco, where he brought in eight runs as well.
The Weatherford College baseball team will travel to Grayson College on Wed. March 11 to begin the first half of their four-game series with the Vikings and will return to Rogers Williams Ballpark on Sat. March 14 to play the second half.
