Weatherford College baseball blasted its way to two more wins at Ranger College on Saturday, winning the opener 13-10 and rolling through the second game 17-5 behind a combined 27 hits, seven home runs and two strong relief outings.
Across both games, Weatherford put up 30 runs on 27 hits, hit seven home runs and saw 14 different players record at least one hit.
The wins finished a season sweep of Ranger and gave the No. 22 Coyotes a 10-2 conference record, 19-10 overall.
Game 1: Weatherford 13, Ranger 10
The Coyotes used a six‑run sixth inning and four homers to take the first game of the twin bill. Ty Waid powered the Coyotes' offense, going 3‑for‑4 with five RBI, a home run and a double. Joseph Sandusky, Jackson Irons and Kyzer Harrington also homered in the win.
Irons reached base four times, scoring three and driving in two, while Harrington scored three times and added an RBI. Cayden Byrd drove in two, and Spencer Butt had two hits with an RBI as Weatherford totaled 13 hits.
Ranger scored five runs in the first and led 7–6 after four innings. Alex D'Angelo steadied the Coyotes out of the bullpen with four innings of two‑run relief, striking out five to earn the win.
Game 2: Weatherford 17, Ranger 5
The Coyotes erupted again in the second game, scoring in every inning and putting up seven runs in the sixth to cap a run‑rule victory. Weatherford finished with 14 hits and three more home runs.
Sandusky homered for the second straight game and went 2‑for‑3 with two RBI and three runs. Walt Jones drove in four and homered as part of a 2‑for‑4 performance, and freshman catcher Levi Martinez added a two‑run shot among his two hits.
Byrd continued his strong day, going 2‑for‑4 with three RBI, a double and a triple. Ty Waid reached base twice and scored two runs, while Jackson Irons drew three walks, stole a base and drove in a run.
AJ Miera earned the win with five innings of three‑run ball, striking out three. Clint Beck closed the final inning.
Ranger's Adriano Fernandez homered and drove in three, while Reid Richard tripled and added an RBI.
