Rodriguez drafted by Dodgers
LA gains former WC pitcher in 2026 MLB draft
In the 14th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball draft Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected former Weatherford College left-handed pitcher Ryne Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is the 51st Weatherford College baseball player to be drafted by a major league franchise.
He was an all-star on the mound for WC, being named the 2023 NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year during the Coyotes' World Series run.
The Fort Worth native transferred to Ole Miss after a season with WC. He spent the next two years as a key part of the Rebels' bullpen, making 19 appearances in his junior year and 14 in his sophomore year.
Rodriguez transferred to the University of Houston in his senior year, where he appeared in 21 games, posting a 4.39 ERA across 55 1/3 innings with 57 strikeouts.
