Coyotes beat Collin in OT conference opener
The Weatherford College Coyotes men's basketball team won their conference opener 80-77 in overtime against Collin College on Wednesday night.
The first conference matchup of the year for the Weatherford College men's basketball team was a nail-biter, as the Coyotes beat Collin College 80-77 in overtime Wednesday night at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
With a 10-point lead at the half, WC (8-8 overall, 1-0 conference play) had command of the game early, but the Cougars (10-7, 0-1) stormed back, forcing a 66-66 tie at the end of regulation.
Sophomore guard Antwan Wilson led the team with 23 points, hitting several key free throws (8 of 11) along the way for the Coyotes.
Tyson Whybrew added 13 points. Adrian Shackleton and Gordon Magok scored 12 each.
The Coyotes' next home game is 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, against Southwestern Christian College.
