Season-high 25 points for Giron in dominant win
The Weatherford College men's and women's basketball teams took down Hill College at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on Saturday, Feb. 15. This marks 10 wins at home for both teams this season.
The Lady Coyotes were on fire against the Lady Rebels, putting up a 40-25 lead at the half. WC was steady and strong for the remainder of the game, winning 80-42. The Lady Coyotes have won eight of their last 10 games, going 7-4 in conference and 16-8 overall.
Saturday marked a milestone game for sophomore guard Jaque Giron. Going five for eight on 3-pointers, Giron scored a season-high 25 points.
"Honestly, I'm feeling great about this season," Giron said. "Our team is putting in the work every day, and it's paying off. We're building chemistry, locking in, and just going out there and playing basketball... I've been working on my shot, so it's nice to see it fall when it matters."
Starting the night off hot with a 38-17 lead in the first half, the Coyotes dunked their way to another win with a final score of 82-54. WC now stands at 7-3 in conference, with a 14-11 overall.
