WC men’s basketball earns all-conference awards
Wilson named Defensive Player and Newcomer of the year
The Weatherford College men's basketball team had another strong season, finishing with an 11-3 record in conference play, 19-12 overall.
Sophomore guard Antwan Wilson and freshman guard Adrian Shackleton have each earned first team recognition on the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference team.
Alongside being named first team all-conference, Wilson earned the Defensive Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year awards for the NTJCAC.
Wilson averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He started in 29 games for the Coyotes, and hit a near half-court, game-winning shot at the buzzer in WC's Region V Tournament win over Midland.
Shackleton started in 24 games, playing in 29 out of 31. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.7 rebounds. His highest scoring game was 21 points against Grayson College in February.
The top six players in the NTJCAC, including Wilson, will join the top six from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference to make up the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region V Team.
Other players from the WC men's team that were recognized:
Sophomore forward Tyson Whybrew was named second team all-conference.
Handy Toussaint and Gordon Magok, both sophomore forwards for the Coyotes, received honorable mention.
