McLennan defeats WC in double-header
WC looks for first conference win after Highlanders loss
Both Weatherford College basketball teams faced off against McLennan Community College last Saturday at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center, with both the Lady Coyotes and Coyotes falling short of the win.
The Lady Coyotes dropped their contest 63-55, while the men's team lost a defensive struggle 59-50.
Starting strong in the first quarter, the Lady Coyotes held an early 16-14 lead. However, McLennan surged in the second to take a 31-26 advantage into halftime. Despite a resilient effort in the second half, WC could not reclaim the lead. The loss moves the Lady Coyotes to an 8-5 overall record and 0-2 in conference play.
Neso Anisiobi led the charge for the Lady Coyotes, recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Maiya Wesley hit four 3-pointers, while Albane Beyaert contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
In the men's game, the Coyotes struggled to find their offensive rhythm early, trailing 24-18 at the half. WC fought back in the second half, scoring 32 points, but couldn't overcome the deficit, ultimately falling by nine. The Coyotes are now 8-10 overall and 0-2 in conference.
Andre Bennett led the Coyote offense with 14 points and six rebounds. Kyan Landveld added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and Josiah Coleman chipped in with six points and four assists.
