Coyotes split wins against Rams
The men’s team secured a big 77-56 W over SWCC, led by Jel Malek’s 22 points (12/12 FT). The women fought hard but fell 82-76 despite a double-double from Neso Anisiobi.
Both Weatherford College basketball teams traveled to Southwestern Christian College over the weekend, resulting in a win for the men's team and a loss for the women's team.
The Lady Coyotes (9-6 overall, 1-3 in conference) held a 43-34 lead going into the locker room at halftime, but the Lady Rams bridged the gap to take the game 82-76.
Neso Anisiobi recorded another double-double performance, with 19 points and 13 rebounds for WC. Anja Djukic followed close behind with 17 points and nine assists.
The men's team (10-10 overall, 2-2 in conference) played lights out against the Rams, taking a 41-16 lead after the first half.
Jel Malek logged a perfect 12-for-12 on free throws, scoring a game-high 22 points for the Coyotes, leading to a 77-56 road win.
Both teams return home to the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on Wednesday, Jan. 21, to face Temple College. The women's team tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the men's team at 7 p.m. For more information, visit wcathletics.com.
