Double road win for WC
Coyotes and Lady Coyotes defeat Ranger College in double-header
The Weatherford College men's and women's basketball teams each secured a victory against Ranger College on the road last Saturday.
The Lady Coyotes won 76-67, while the Coyotes won a close game 70-68.
Starting the night with an early lead, the Lady Coyotes (12-6 overall, 4-3 in conference) took the first half from the Lady Rangers (8-12, 3-3) with a score of 34-25.
Though the home team began fighting back in the second half, WC maintained a 10-point advantage to win the night. The Lady Coyotes have won four of their last five games.
Natalia Arseniadou led the Lady Coyotes with a 16-point game on offense and recorded five steals and five turnovers defensively.
Albane Beyaert charted 13 points and eight rebounds, while Neso Anisiobi scored 11.
WC (11-11 overall, 3-3 in conference) fought a tough battle against Ranger College (8-13, 2-3), going in at the half with a 10-point deficit.
Coming back from the trenches, the Coyotes pulled off a second-half retaliation, stacking 41 points for the win against the Rangers 29.
Freshman forward Kyan Landveld recorded 14 points for the black and gold, alongside fellow freshman guard Jace Hudson, who put 12 points on the board.
Freshman forward Kenji Franklin registered 11 rebounds and eight points.
The Lady Coyotes and Coyotes will be at home Monday, Feb. 2, for a rescheduled matchup against Grayson College. Games will begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
