WC drops Monday night matchup to Grayson
Big nights from Andre Bennett (23 pts) and Neso Anisiobi (20 pts) weren't quite enough to hold off the Vikings.
The Weatherford College basketball teams faced a tough night at home Monday, falling to Grayson College in a pair of games rescheduled due to winter weather.
Despite strong individual performances, both the men's and women's teams were unable to fend off late-game surges by the Vikings.
The Lady Coyotes (12-7 overall, 4-4 in conference) held a comfortable 42-32 lead at halftime, but a cold fourth quarter allowed Grayson to slip ahead for a 79-75 victory.
Neso Anisiobi led the way for WC with a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds, while Albane Beyaert recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds. Anja Djukic dished out 10 assists.
In the second game of the evening, the Coyotes (11-12 overall, 3-4 in conference) battled through a back-and-forth contest that went into overtime but ultimately fell to the Vikings 75-72.
Andre Bennett logged a game-high 23 points and seven steals, while Kenji Franklin added 15 points and five rebounds.
Both teams look to bounce back this Saturday, Feb. 7, when they host Collin College. The women's game tips off at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m. in the Graber Athletic Center. For more information, visit wcathletics.com.
