Men's golf places fourth in Hrnciar Invitational
Freshman golfer places third in individuals
The Weatherford College men's golf team recently competed in the Hrnciar Invitational hosted by Cameron University in Duncan, Oklahoma. The Coyotes were part of the NCAA D2 event, placing fourth overall.
On the individual leaderboard, freshman Michael Mayer finished third. The Munich, Germany, native had a 69.6 scoring average through nine tournament rounds. Freshman Abdo Fakori placed eighth and freshman Youssef El Hali placed ninth.
Head golf coach Dave Rennhack said the team played well despite the windy conditions.
"We played a tough golf course this week. We were very competitive against some great teams. We had three players finish in the top 10."
WC hung in there and moved up the leaderboard during the final round.
Renhack continued. "I'm proud of the way this team is shaping up, and we are excited about getting ready to compete later this month."
The men's golf team will participate in the NJCAA Division 1 National Preview at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas, on Oct. 30.
