Weatherford College set to compete in FWSSR
New tradition added to WC Rodeo history
The Weatherford College rodeo team had a tremendous opening half of their competitive season, including hosting their first competition as part of the newly formed Lone Star Region.
While the Coyotes move into the second half of the season with continued momentum, another historic milestone will be added to the rich history of WC rodeo.
2026 will be the first time Weatherford College will be a participant in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
This event is one of 10 college rodeos held throughout the season where points earned will count toward qualification for the College National Finals Rodeo in June. It will be a separate event from the pro rodeo performances being held at Dickies Arena.
Johnny Emmons, head rodeo coach at WC, is excited to join the longstanding North Texas tradition.
"I think it's really cool to get to be a part of the FWSSR. Fort Worth was always one of my favorite rodeos when I was competing, and for these kids to get to compete in the historic Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum is going to be special! Plus, it'll give our parents and fans a second chance to see our team compete on a local basis."
WC will be performing on February 2 through February 4 and will be free with a grounds pass.
