Trammell tops bull riding, WC women lead standings at CNFR
With three days remaining, the Weatherford College women’s rodeo team led the standings at the College National Finals Rodeo following Wednesday night’s performance in Casper, Wyoming.
With three days remaining, the Weatherford College women's rodeo team led the standings at the College National Finals Rodeo following Wednesday night's performance in Casper, Wyoming.
Weatherford held first place with 230 points, followed by the University of Wyoming (215), Texas A&M (195), Texas Tech (135), Sam Houston State (125) and Tarleton State (80). A total of 30 women's teams are competing at the CNFR.
The WC men's team stood second at the end of Wednesday night's competition.
Mecate Trammell posted the top bull ride of the week, scoring 86.25 on "Uncle Kneebanger." The ride moved him into first place overall with 110 points entering the short go. His closest competitor had 80 points.
Several other WC student-athletes recorded top performances in their third rounds Wednesday. Denton Parish and Brock Borkman led team roping with a 4.3-second run and were fourth overall. Mitchie Story posted a round-best 76.25 in saddle bronc riding and ranked sixth overall.
Emily Ward clocked a 14.28 in barrel racing to move into eighth overall.
The event runs through Saturday night at the Ford Wyoming Center. All rounds are broadcast on ESPN+.
