WC softball splits with No. 13 Vernon, begins postseason Thursday
In the final two games of the regular season Friday in Vernon, Weatherford College and Vernon College split a conference softball doubleheader. WC won the first game 11-3 and Vernon took game two 14-6.

WC enters the Region V-North Tournament as the fifth seed with a 25-20 overall record. Weatherford will play fourth-seeded Temple College Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The entire double-elimination tournament will be played at Grayson College in Denison and all games will be live-streamed on tsrnsports.com on a pay-per-view basis. The championship will be played Sunday, May 9.

On Saturday, the Coyotes scored five runs in the fifth inning of game one and never looked back. WC out-hit Vernon 11-4.
WC's Sierra Nixon turned in four RBI, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Destini Trahan allowed four hits over five innings with one earned run and two walks. The game ended early due to the run rule.
In game two, Vernon broke the game open with an eight-run fifth inning. Adrianna Cooney and Logan Menzies hit two home runs each for the Chaparrals.
Vernon (41-10 overall, 23-9 conference) is ranked No. 13 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division I softball poll.
