WC softball advances to semifinals, eliminated by NCTC
After advancing to the semifinals of the Region V-North Tournament, the Weatherford College softball team fell to North Central Texas College 5-0 Saturday in Denison, ending their season with a 27-22 overall record.
After advancing to the semifinals of the Region V-North Tournament, the Weatherford College softball team fell to North Central Texas College 5-0 Saturday in Denison, ending their season with a 27-22 overall record.
WC lost their first tournament game to Temple 2-1 Thursday but then beat Ranger 10-1 Friday and Vernon 8-4 Saturday to advance to the semifinals.
In the win over Ranger, Karli Manney went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Marcie Moss allowed three hits and no walks while striking out two over four innings.
Lencie Powell went 3-for-3 against Vernon, scoring two runs. Kailyne Luna hit a home run.
NCTC scored five runs in the third inning of Saturday night's game. Pitcher Elizabeth Schroeter threw a one-hitter, walking two and striking out 10 WC batters.
Grayson College defeated NCTC in the championship round to earn a berth in the NJCAA World Series.
