The Weatherford College softball team began the conference season with a shutout sweep, beating Cisco College 1-0 and 4-0 Wednesday at WC's Stuart Field.

The Coyotes are now 11-4 overall on the season.
In the first game, WC pitcher Emma Southerland was dominant. The right-hander from Graham allowed two hits, no runs and no walks while striking out three over seven innings. Cisco's Caitlyn Rangel was also very effective, allowing just one hit, one earned run and four walks with three Ks.
The lone run in the game came when Karli Manney drove in Lencie Powell with an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning.
Amelia Hatthorn threw a shutout in game two, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out two.
Sierra Nixon was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Destiney Jones drove in two runs and was 2-for-3.
WC travels to Cisco this Saturday and returns home to Stuart Field Wednesday, March 9 against Grayson College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
