WC softball scores 31 runs in doubleheader
Coyotes complete four-game sweep of Ranger
The No. 18 Weatherford College softball team brought their bats to Ranger on Monday, winning a doubleheader 24-0 and 7-4.
WC scored nine runs in the top of the first inning and seven in the top of the second.
Sadie Reid drove in eight runs in the lopsided game one victory, going 4-for-5. Two other players turned in three RBIs each: Peyton Young (3-for-5) and Janae Trojacek (2-for-3).
Sarah Hanf held Ranger to three hits over five innings, giving up no runs and one walk while striking out nine.
In the second game, Madison Lux drove in four runs, going 2-for-3 with a home run.
Faith Drissel earned the win, scattering 11 hits over seven innings, allowing two earned runs and one walk with four strikeouts.
The wins completed a four-game series sweep of Ranger.
The Coyotes (29-9 overall, 17-7 conference) sit in third place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings behind national No. 4 McLennan (22-2 in conference) and No. 6 Grayson (16-4).
Next up for Weatherford is a four-game series against Hill College. WC will face the Rebels on Wednesday at Stuart Field in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
