WC shuts down Hill
Coyotes' offense explodes for 29 runs in Saturday twinbill, blanking Hill College in both contests
The No. 18 Weatherford College softball team crushed Hill College on Saturday, winning 17-0 in game one and 12-0 in game two.
The Coyotes not only won all four matchups in this series but defeated the Rebels in a shutout for three of their four games played and scored a combined series total of 49 runs.
WC stands at 21-7 in conference play and 33-9 overall. They have won nine games in a row and currently sit third in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings.
Scoring hard and fast early in game one, the Coyotes put up six runs in the first and nearly doubled it in the second with 10 more. One final run came in the fourth and cut the game short on the run rule after five innings.
Eighteen different batters stepped up to the plate for WC. Madison Lux and Alexah Reyes tied for the RBI lead with three each. Casidy Victorino hit a solo home run.
Sarah Hanf pitched a near perfect game, striking out seven batters, with no walks and no earned runs. She only allowed one hit through five innings pitched.
Game two was likewise won on the run rule. The Coyotes put up two in the first, nine more in the second and one more in the third.
Hanna Bartles was the RBI leader for game two, bringing home three overall, two on a home run to left field in the second. Lux alongside Sadie Reid, Lilli Williams and Karlie Landrum all hit two RBI a piece.
Lindsey Oliver was dominant in the circle, taking six Ks, walking two and allowing only one hit in five innings pitched.
WC softball will be at No. 1 McLennan Community College in Waco on Wednesday, April 16, with the beginning of the series starting at 1 p.m. The Coyotes will be back at Stuart Field on Friday, April 18, for their final home games starting at noon.
