Spring sports claim a spot in the national rankings for NJCAA
Weatherford College athletics is off to a great start this spring, with six teams claiming a spot on their respective NJCAA national rankings lists.
WC softball (21-7 overall, 5-3 in conference) is the newest team to join the ranks at No. 23 and the first time the team has been in the top 25 this season due to the prowess of the pitching staff.
In their most recent doubleheader against Ranger College, the Coyotes had a combined 14 strikeouts and no walks.
Returning starter Sarah Hanf is tied at No. 19 in the nation for strikeouts with 81 on the season.
The WC baseball team (20-10, 10-2) has risen in the rankings to No. 21 after a series sweep against Ranger College.
As it stands, the Coyotes are third in the nation with a total of 74 home runs hit this season, 14 of which have been produced by the No. 5 HR hitter Ty Waid.
The remaining WC teams that are currently ranked are the No. 6 men's golf team, the No. 7 women's golf team, the No. 8 women's tennis team, and the No. 10 men's tennis.
