Lady Coyotes edge out Cisco
WC women's basketball continues strong play with fourth win in five games
The Weatherford College women's basketball team has won four out of its last five games after a 53-51 defensive battle with Cisco College at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center Wednesday night.
Weatherford (11-8 overall, 4-3 in conference) jumped out to a 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Cisco (10-9, 3-4) outscored the Lady Coyotes by 13 in the second period.
The game remained neck and neck until Esther Daniels hit the go-ahead bucket with 1:03 remaining in the game, and WC held on for the win.
Jacque Giron led all scorers with 13 points. Neso Anisiobi added 12 points and led the team in rebounds with 14.
The Coyotes did not play Wednesday because Cisco doesn't field a men's team. Both WC teams will host Ranger College Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Graber Center; the women's game tips off at 2 p.m. and the men begin at 4 p.m.
