Coyotes, Lady Coyotes face defeat against Collin College
Both Weatherford College basketball teams faced tough challenges against Collin College over the weekend at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. The women's team fell short in a 79-76 loss, while the men's team was defeated 73-58.
The Lady Coyotes (12-8 overall, 4-5 in conference) were in a consistent tug-of-war with the No. 22 Lady Cougars all night, with a host of lead changes and a difference of only one to two points at the end of each quarter.
Neso Anisiobi was the overall point leader, scoring 28 points and shooting 11 for 15.
Maya Wesley charted six-for-six on free throws to score 13 points.
Tiykeah McKenzie logged three key steals for the Lady Coyotes, scoring a total of 12 points, while Albane Beyaert put up 10.
The WC men's basketball team (11-13, 3-5) faced an uphill battle against the Cougars on Saturday, going into the second half with an eight-point disadvantage. While the Coyotes were able to shrink the gap early, Collin maintained their lead until the end.
Andre Bennett was the point leader for WC, scoring 10.
The Coyotes will travel to McLennan Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with the women's game starting at 5 p.m. and the men's game beginning at 7 p.m.
