Anisiobi shines, Hill takes two over WC
Coyotes and Lady Coyotes defeated on the road
Hill College won both basketball games over Weatherford College at the Bob Bullock Sports Center Saturday in Hillsboro.
Despite an incredible 32 points and 20 rebounds from Neso Anisiobi, the Lady Coyotes lost 84-79.
The sophomore from Houston is averaging 16.0 points on the season and 26.6 points over her last three games.
WC had a 39-38 lead at halftime, but Hill outscored Weatherford 24-16 and held on for the win.
Kiah Goynes put up 22 points for the Lady Rebels.
WC dropped to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
Hill won the men's game, 69-66. The game was tied 66-66 until HC hit the go-ahead bucket with 28 seconds left.
Jel Malek led the Coyotes with 13 points. Bol Dhieu added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Hill had four players in double-figure scoring, led by Derrick Morris with 13.
The Coyotes are 11-15 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
The top four teams for the men and women advance to the NJCAA Region V Tournament. The Lady Coyotes, at 4-7 in conference, trail fourth place Hill (5-5) with five games remaining. The Coyotes, at 3-7, trail fourth place Ranger (4-5) with four games left.
WC will host Southwestern Christian College Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. The women will tip off at 5 p.m. followed by the men at 7 p.m.
