In a key pair of games for their postseason hopes, both Weatherford College basketball teams defeated Southwestern Christian College on Wednesday night at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. The Lady Coyotes rolled to a 116–92 victory, while the Coyotes edged out a 62–59 win.
The Lady Coyotes showcased a balanced and dominant offensive effort with seven players scoring in double figures. Neso Anisiobi delivered a standout performance with 23 points and 21 rebounds. Natalia Arseniadou added 21 points, and Anja Djukic posted a double-double of her own with 12 points and 16 assists. Maiya Wesley contributed 17 points, Rileigh Hairston scored 13, and Lauryn Ebara finished with 11.
Weatherford improved to 13–10 overall and 5–7 in conference play.
On the men's side, the Coyotes rallied from a three-point halftime deficit, outscoring the Rams 36–30 in the second half. WC shot 45.1% from the field (23 of 51) and went 13 of 18 at the free-throw line.
Josiah Coleman led the Coyotes with 15 points, while Jel Malek and Andre Bennett each added 11.
The men's team improved to 13–15 overall and 5–7 in conference.
Both WC teams return to action Saturday at Temple College.
