WC, Ranger split in regular season hoops finales
Behind a balanced attack led by Maiya Wesley’s 18 points, the Lady Coyotes secured a decisive 81-63 victory to finish at .500 in conference play, while the men’s late-game rally wasn't quite enough to overcome a halftime deficit.
The Weatherford College women's basketball team won the final game of the regular season Wednesday night at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center, beating Ranger College 81-63.
Four Lady Coyotes were in double-figures: Maiya Wesley led with 18 points, Neso Anisiobi had 15 points with 12 rebounds, Natalia Arseniadou scored 14 and Rileigh Hairston added 10.
WC had a 44-29 lead at halftime and cruised to the win.
Weatherford ended the regular season at 16-11 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
In the men's game, a WC comeback fell short as Ranger won, 66-61.
Ranger had a 35-24 lead at the half, but the Coyotes out-scored RC by six in the second half.
The Coyotes are 13-17 overall and 5-9 in conference play.
Both Weatherford teams have a bye in conference play Saturday, March 7. Final standings and regional tournament seedings will be set after Saturday's slate of games in the rest of the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
