WC women’s golf wins Jacksonville tourney
The Weatherford College women's golf team made history with its first-ever tournament win at the Jacksonville College Invitational with Emily Gutierrez and Corrina Haros taking second and third individually.

The Weatherford College women's golf team won the championship at the Jacksonville College Invitational on Sept. 23-24 at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club. This is the first event championship since the program's start in the fall of 2023.
"They battled on a tough golf course and carried themselves extremely well," said Katie Johnston, WC assistant golf coach.
The Coyotes won by a whopping 30 strokes, shooting 330 and 328 as a team in the two-round tournament.
WC's Emily Gutierrez finished in second place individually with rounds of 84 and 76. She was in eighth place after a first-round 84 and climbed six spots after the second round, tied for the best second-round score of 76.
Corrina Haros led the tournament after the first round with a 79. But an 82 in the second round dropped her to third place overall.
Kyla Morales (84-83) was eighth. Ella Barton (83-87) finished tenth.
As a team, WC outplayed East Texas Baptist University, LeTourneau University, Jacksonville College and Collin College.
Next, WC travels to Ardmore, Oklahoma, Oct. 7-8 for the Fall Aggie Invitational at Lake Murray State Park Golf Course, hosted by Murray State College.
