WC’s Haros in fifth at national tourney
Women's team tied for 12th after Day 1
The Weatherford College women's golf team played the opening round of the program's first-ever national tournament on Monday near Garden City, Kansas.
WC's Corrina Haros finished the first round tied for fifth place among 85 competitors. The freshman from Mansfield shot three over par, including a birdie on the 18th hole. Haros was just three shots behind the leader, Abir Taibi of Seminole State College (Florida).
Weatherford, ranked No. 11 in the most recent national poll, was tied for 12th place with a total first-round score of 329. No. 3 Seminole State had the lead at 298, followed by No. 2 Odessa at 300 and No. 1 Daytona State College (Florida) at 312.
The tournament is being played at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Finney County, Kansas.
