WC women’s golf finishes 2nd at Hawks Creek
Great start for the Coyotes on the course
The Weatherford College women's golf team took second place at the Texas Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village.
Only two strokes separated first-place Blinn College and the Coyotes. WC outscored third-place University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) by 11 strokes.
Weatherford also outplayed Texas Wesleyan University (4th), McLennan Community College (5th), Tyler Junior College (6th) and Wayland Baptist University (7th), among others.
"We played three rounds of great golf against some tough competition—it's a great start to the season," said Dave Rennhack, WC's head golf coach. "I'm excited to see this team continue to improve."
In her first collegiate tournament, WC's Tasnim Smaili finished fourth overall at two over-par (73-72-73). Emily Gutierrez tied for 6th (71-76-74) and Corrina Haros tied for 8th (73-73-76).
"We had strong leadership from our sophomores and our new recruits played very well," Rennhack said. "Having three players finish individually in the top 10 was a big feat."
