After the first day of play in the NJCAA Division I National Women’s Tennis Tournament Saturday , Weatherford College sat in 14th place among 27 colleges. WC picked up six points, winning singles and doubles matches at the tournament in Tucson, Arizona.
In its first season back after many years, the Weatherford College women’s tennis program is one of the best in the nation. Now, the No. 7 ranked two-year college team in the nation is competing in the NJCAA Championships Saturday through Wednesday in Tucson, Arizona.
The International Tennis Association has ranked the Weatherford College women’s team No. 7 in its latest NJCAA national team poll released Thursday. The rankings are based on a coach's poll administered by the ITA.
The Weatherford College women’s tennis team competed against a pair of four-year university programs on a road trip to Belton and San Antonio Feb. 19 and 20. Weatherford defeated the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and lost to the University of the Incarnate Word.
