WC volleyball wins hard-fought match at NCTC
Despite dropping the first two sets, Weatherford College rallied for a comeback victory against North Central Texas College, extending their winning streak to seven games.
Weatherford College fought back after losing the first two sets to beat North Central Texas College in a conference volleyball match Wednesday night in Gainesville.
The Lions won the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-17. Then WC stormed back to win three in a row, 25-21, 25-10, 15-8.
Four Coyotes finished in double-figures in the kills category: Abby Morris (11), Gabriela Maldonado (11), Weronika Urbanska (11) and Presleigh Roest (10).
Lorena Gomez had 26 assists, and Victoria Sanchez added 18. Kiana Souza led WC in digs with 16 and Morris had 14.
Prior to the first set on Wednesday, WC had won 24 straight sets in conference play, going back to the 2023 season.
WC has won seven straight matches, improving to 18-5 overall and 5-0 in conference. The Coyotes are ranked No. 6 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division I poll.
After a road match on Saturday at Cisco College, the Coyotes will host Hill College on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. Find the team's full schedule at wcathletics.com.
