Coyotes claim two in Florida Tournament
Weekend tournament for WC leads to two wins
The No. 2 Weatherford College volleyball team participated in the EFSC Titan Invitational in Melbourne, Florida over the weekend, facing off against No.1 ranked Miami Dade College, No. 3 Florida Southwestern State College, No. 12 Eastern Florida State College and Daytona State College.
The Coyotes took their first match with a 3-1 victory against Daytona State. Beline Thibaut and Victoria Sanchez had a double-double performance against the Falcons, with Thibaut having 16 kills and 14 digs, while Sanchez had 20 assists and 11 digs.
Florida Southwestern, the reigning national champion, beat WC 25-13, 25-17 and 25-19. Thibaut had 13 digs and Kiana Souza added 11.
The Coyotes made No. 1 Miami Dade work for their win, 25-21, 25-20 and 28-26. Mirabel Onyegwu had 10 kills. Thibaut and Weronika Urbanska had 11 digs each.
Weatherford swept the home team, EFSC, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-16. Souza had 15 digs, Ally McCabe had 14 assists, and Urbanska had 12 kills.
WC now stands 13-2 overall.
The Coyotes are back home on Wednesday for a conference matchup against Ranger College. First set starts at 6 p.m. in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
