Coyotes sweep Midland in first regional match
Weatherford College plays host to the NJCAA Region V Tournament, winning first match against Midland College
The No. 2 Weatherford College Volleyball team began its postseason run at the NJCAA Region V Tournament held in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on Thursday, Nov. 6. The Coyotes defeated Midland College in a three-set sweep.
WC won 25-13 in the first set. Midland came close in the second, but the Coyotes prevailed, winning 25-21 in set two.
Supported by an energetic home crowd of faculty, classmates and family, WC claimed victory with a familiar score of 25-13 in the third and final set.
The Coyotes played lights out against Midland due to outstanding offensive performances from Victoria Sanchez, who charted 16 assists, and Ally McCabe, who followed suit with 15 assists.
Weronika Urbanska was the point leader for the Coyotes, recording 10 kills against the visiting Chaps.
Beline Thibaut and Kiana Souza played well on defense for the black and gold, logging nine digs and seven digs, respectively.
No. 2 Weatherford College moves on to face No. 11 New Mexico Military Institute on Friday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
